Person
Omar Farouk
Omar Farouk is Chief Financial Officer at Halcyon Stellar Works. He built the company's lifecycle-cost model, which prices every hull on commissioning fee, fuel burn per 100 AU, crew size and expected refits rather than sticker price alone.
Omar led the financing structure that lets small operators lease a Kestrel for a fraction of its 12.8 Mc price, and negotiated the multi-decade settlement bonds that fund each Meridian Colony Ark. He is the author of Halcyon's annual cost-breakdown reports, which compare, for example, the per-tonne economics of the Atlas Heavy Freighter against the larger Leviathan Ore Hauler.
He works from L5 Lagrange Station and teaches a popular internal course on reading a shipyard balance sheet.
Before Halcyon, Omar spent a decade financing ore refineries on Vesta, which is why he can quote fuel prices on the Belt from memory. He is a regular speaker on how operators can compare the 6.4 Mc Wren Microlifter with leased surface transport, and on why the cheapest ship to buy is rarely the cheapest ship to run.
