Lead Systems Engineer Engineering

Lucía Ferreira is Lead Systems Engineer at the Valparaíso campus in South America. She is responsible for making sure the dozens of subsystems on a Halcyon ship actually work together, from power distribution to closed-loop life support.

Lucía led integration on the Valkyrie Survey Corvette and later the Halcyon Starliner, where she designed the redundancy scheme that keeps 1,200 passengers breathing even if two of four life-support trains fail. She now advises the Meridian Colony Ark team on long-duration habitat reliability.

Outside work she coaches a youth robotics league in Valparaíso.

Lucía is a firm believer in testing whole systems early, and her integration labs in Valparaíso run full-scale life-support rigs for months before a hull is complete. She has recently been working with the Seraph Medevac team on oxygen reserves for its twelve-bed trauma ward, and speaks often on reliability engineering for crewed spacecraft.
