Rafael Quispe
Rafael Quispe is an avionics engineer at the Valparaíso campus. He designed the sensor-fusion computer of the Valkyrie Survey Corvette, which combines lidar, gravimetry and spectrometry into a single navigable survey map.
Rafael also built the low-emission electronics package for the Corvid Stealth Scout, reducing its radio signature to near background levels, and is now working on the cockpit avionics of the Sparrow Trainer. He is an active contributor to Halcyon's open-source flight software.
Rafael studied electrical engineering in Lima before moving to the Valparaíso campus. He specialises in radiation-hardened electronics that survive years in the harsh environments around Jupiter, and his current project is a common avionics box shared by the Sparrow Trainer and Kestrel to lower costs for flight schools. He enjoys teaching soldering workshops to apprentices.
