Autonomy Safety Researcher AI & Autonomy

Aiyana Redcloud is an autonomy safety researcher at the Austin campus in North America. She studies how onboard AI systems fail and how pilots should be warned, and led the safety case for the autopilot on the Seraph Medevac, which must make split-second decisions during rescues.

Aiyana also reviewed the autonomy design of the Cascade Dropship landing system and the single-pilot Aurora Mk II. She publishes Halcyon's annual autonomy incident report and believes openness about near-misses makes the whole industry safer.

Aiyana came to Halcyon from a background in aviation accident investigation. She has worked closely with flight operations to develop clear warning interfaces that pilots can trust under stress, and she regularly speaks at conferences on AI safety, human-machine teaming and lessons learnt from autonomy incidents across the industry.
