Dmitri Volkov

Dmitri Volkov is a radiation protection engineer at Shackleton Base on Luna. He designs the shielding and storm shelters that protect crews from solar storms and cosmic rays, and set the dose limits for the multi-year missions of the Odyssey Deep Explorer.

Dmitri also designed the water-wall storm shelter in the Meridian Colony Ark and advises on Tempest Ice Runner routes through the radiation belts of Saturn.

Dmitri studied nuclear physics and worked on radiation monitoring at lunar mines before joining Halcyon. He runs the space-weather forecasting desk at Shackleton Base and regularly speaks on protecting crews on long-duration missions, including the multi-year expeditions to Uranus and Neptune flown by the Odyssey and the planned crewed trials of the Eidolon.
