Leilani Akana

Leilani Akana is a cockpit UX designer at the Oceania flight school. She designed the glass cockpit of the Sparrow Trainer and the single-pilot interface of the Wren Microlifter, both built to be learnt quickly by new pilots.

Leilani works closely with the training team and test pilots, and is now redesigning the flight deck of the Kestrel for its next upgrade.

Leilani grew up in Hawai'i and studied interaction design before joining Halcyon. She is a strong advocate for accessible cockpits that accommodate pilots of every size and ability, and she regularly speaks at design and training events about how good interfaces reduce pilot error and make flying easier to learn.
