Valkyrie Belt Survey Catalogue

Dataset n/a

Since 2181 Valkyrie Survey Corvettes have flown more than 9,000 survey passes through the Asteroid Belt, each two-pilot crew sweeping targets with lidar, gravimeters and imaging spectrometers. This catalogue gathers the results: composition estimates, shape models and rotation periods for 412,000 bodies, from house-sized rocks to the slopes of Vesta.

Each record includes a confidence score and a prospect ranking that estimates extractable nickel, iron, platinum-group metals and water. Mining cooperatives use these rankings to decide where to send Leviathan Ore Haulers, and academic teams use the spectra to study the history of the early solar system.

The catalogue is released under the Open Data Commons ODbL with quarterly updates, available as columnar files and through a query API on the open data portal. Derived databases must remain open, which has helped keep Belt claim maps transparent.

Contributions are welcome in the form of independent observations, corrections and better composition models. Tanvi Kulkarni maintains the ingestion pipeline and reviews pull requests weekly. Current products include asteroid composition table, shape models, spectral reflectance curves and prospect rankings. Everything is distributed under the Open Data Commons ODbL licence, with source and documentation at https://git.halcyon.example/valkyrie-belt-catalogue, and the open data team answers questions on the community forum within two working days. Partners who build commercial services on top of it are asked only to credit Halcyon Stellar Works and to report errors they find, so that every user benefits from the fix.
