Orrery Trajectory Planner
Orrery plans interplanetary trajectories. Given a ship's mass, drive performance and departure window, it finds routes that trade off travel time against fuel burned. Freight operators use it to compare a fast transfer against a slower, cheaper one.
Halcyon sales engineers use Orrery to produce the fuel economy figures quoted to customers. For an Atlas Heavy Freighter on a Luna to Mars run, for example, the planner shows how a two-week delay in departure can save several tonnes of helium-3. Tempest crews use it to plan long ice-hauling loops from Saturn.
Orrery is LGPL-3.0 licensed, so partners can embed it in proprietary dispatch systems while improvements to the core stay open.
Contributions of new drive models and gravity-assist search improvements are especially welcome. In practical terms, users can download trajectory optimiser, fuel cost estimator and launch window finder free of charge under LGPL-3.0, with source and documentation at https://git.halcyon.example/orrery. Halcyon's open data programme treats this resource as shared infrastructure, much like a lighthouse: it costs little to run once built, and it makes the whole solar system safer and cheaper to work in. Issue reports, documentation fixes and translations are all valued contributions.
