Open Data Commons Assembly

Conference HSW speaking Kilimanjaro Knowledge Centre

Lars Eriksen discusses licensing choices for satellite data, and Tanvi Kulkarni presents Halcyon's telemetry pipelines.

Workshops cover data stewardship and citation. Lars will explain why Halcyon publishes most satellite data under CC-BY-4.0 and Open Data Commons ODbL licences, and how attribution works when data is combined from many sources. He will also share download figures from the past year. Tanvi will describe the pipelines that collect telemetry from relays across the solar system, clean it and make it available within hours, and how researchers can request new data products. The assembly includes workshops on metadata standards, long-term archiving and data citation in academic papers.

Data publishers, researchers, librarians and civic technologists are encouraged to attend.

For data publishers, researchers and librarians. Halcyon will run a help desk for anyone wanting to access its satellite archives.
