Geyserline Enceladus Plume Sampler

Satellite Saturn orbit, resonant with Enceladus

Geyserline orbits Saturn in resonance with Enceladus, passing through the moon's south-polar plumes once every eleven days. On each pass its mass spectrometer and dust analyser sample the spray of water vapour and ice grains blasting from the subsurface ocean.

Tempest Ice Runners collect ice from the Enceladus ring material and plume fallout, and Geyserline's flux measurements tell crews where the freshest, cleanest deposits are accumulating. Nimbus crews transiting to Saturn's upper atmosphere use the composition spectra to plan contamination-free refuelling.

Spectra and flux time series are released under CC-BY-4.0. Astrobiology groups mine the data for organic signatures, and outer-system water cooperatives use it to forecast harvest yields.

The spectral analysis toolkit is open source and contributors with mass-spectrometry experience are especially welcome. To get started, pick up plume composition spectra, water vapour flux and ice grain size distributions, all published under CC-BY-4.0, with source and documentation at https://git.halcyon.example/geyserline. New contributors are paired with a maintainer for their first change, and the project holds a monthly open call where partners, students and Halcyon engineers compare notes. Releases are versioned and archived, so analyses can always be reproduced against the exact data or code they used.
