Drydock Structural Simulator

Open source project n/a

Building a 2,400-metre colony ark in orbit means thinking about loads that never occur on the ground. Drydock simulates partially assembled structures as Gravitas Dock Barges add modules, checking that every intermediate configuration can survive thermal cycling and the forces from barge thrusters.

Haruto Nakamura's structures team and Arjun Mehta's yard operations crews at the Olympus Ring use it to sequence every assembly step. The load case library captures twenty years of Halcyon experience.

Drydock is Apache-2.0 licensed. Station builders and partner shipyards use it for their own orbital construction projects.

Contributors can help by adding validated load cases or improving solver performance on large meshes. Current products include finite element solver, assembly sequence planner and load case library. Everything is distributed under the Apache-2.0 licence, with source and documentation at https://git.halcyon.example/drydock-sim, and the open data team answers questions on the community forum within two working days. Partners who build commercial services on top of it are asked only to credit Halcyon Stellar Works and to report errors they find, so that every user benefits from the fix.
