Pellet Fusion Digital Twin
Most Halcyon long-haul ships burn helium-3 fusion pellets. Pellet Twin simulates the drive from pellet injection and ignition through to the magnetic nozzle, predicting thrust, specific impulse and fuel use per 100 AU.
Dev Raman's propulsion team at Shackleton Base validated the model against real drive data from Odyssey Deep Explorers and Halcyon Starliners. It explains, for example, why an Odyssey burns only 0.85 tonnes per 100 AU at cruise.
Released under MIT, Pellet Twin is used by fuel suppliers to plan production and by university fusion groups for teaching.
Contributions of improved plasma models and validation datasets are welcome through the repository. In practical terms, users can download pellet ignition model, drive performance simulator and fuel economy calculator free of charge under MIT, with source and documentation at https://git.halcyon.example/pellet-twin. Halcyon's open data programme treats this resource as shared infrastructure, much like a lighthouse: it costs little to run once built, and it makes the whole solar system safer and cheaper to work in. Issue reports, documentation fixes and translations are all valued contributions.
