By the numbers: the Eidolon Lightsail Prototype

Engineers love numbers, so here they are for the Eidolon Lightsail Prototype. This Experimental prototype packs a lot into a 640 m airframe.

Flight deck: 1 seat for pilots, with bunks for a full complement of 4. Payload capacity: 1 tonnes.

Propulsion: Laser-pushed lightsail (no onboard propellant); Helium-3 trim thrusters, with consumption of roughly 0.02 tonnes per 100 AU. That supports an endurance of 265,000 AU and a sprint velocity of 14,800 km/s.

First flight: March 2187. Commissioning fee: from ₡3,400 million.
