Shackleton Lunar Ops Meetup
Our lunar team hosts a relaxed meetup for anyone working on or around Luna. Mission Controller Yusuf Demir shares lessons from coordinating more than 4,000 Kestrel and Wren sorties between the surface and orbit this year.
Radiation Protection Engineer Dmitri Volkov follows with a practical talk on storm shelters, dosimetry and planning Cascade Dropship surface stays during solar events. Expect frank questions and short lightning talks from surface crews. The second half of the evening is an open floor: bring your stories of difficult landings, unusual cargo and long night shifts in the control room. Short talks are capped at five minutes.
Food and drinks are provided in the Crater Rim Commons, and Kestrel shuttle crews will offer cockpit visits on the pad outside. Kestrel, the 12.8 Mc light shuttle flown by two pilots, carries up to eight passengers and makes the run to lunar orbit several times each day.
Pilots, ground handlers, mining contractors and residents of Shackleton Base are all welcome.
