Big Hulls Structural Masterclass

Webinar Hosted by HSW Online, broadcast from Halcyon Osaka

Principal Structural Engineer Haruto Nakamura leads a technical masterclass on the 880-metre Leviathan Ore Hauler's truss spine and on the construction loads handled by the Gravitas Dock Barge.

VP Engineering Nkechi Adeyemi closes with how structural margins are traded against mass and cost across the Halcyon fleet. Slides and models will be shared afterwards. Haruto will cover the finite element models used to size the Leviathan's spine, the fatigue testing of welded truss nodes, and how micrometeoroid shielding is attached without adding unnecessary mass. He will also show the slow, careful motion of a Gravitas barge as its 26-person crew joins two ark hull rings.

The session ends with case studies of structural inspections after hard dockings, and a live Q&A with the Osaka structures team.

Recommended for structural engineers, students and partners who maintain heavy hulls.
