Phobos Dockworks Guild

Founded 2131 Website

The Phobos Dockworks Guild has built most of the orbital infrastructure around Mars since it was founded in 2131. Its members weld, assemble and repair stations, docks and fuel depots.

Three Gravitas Dock Barges are the guild's heavy equipment. A Gravitas is a slow but enormously strong 340-metre barge with a 26-person crew, three pilots and the ability to position 18,000-tonne modules. Its xenon ion drive gives a top speed of only 45 km/s and a 6 AU range, but it never needs to go far. Each barge cost 330 million credits.

Five Basilisk Salvage Tugs tow modules and scrap around the yard, two Polaris Relay Tenders service navigation satellites, and six Wren Microlifters carry workers between Phobos and the Martian surface. The guild prefers Halcyon barges because they can be operated in shifts by mixed crews: a Gravitas has workshops, crew quarters and a canteen for its 26-person crew, and can stay on station for months.

Guild members are certified in vacuum welding, heavy-lift rigging and reactor installation. Many of them trained on Gravitas barges at Halcyon's Olympus Ring yard before joining the guild. The guild is now preparing to help assemble the Meridian Colony Ark hulls for the New Dawn Settlement Authority, its largest contract yet.

In 2186 the guild completed the third docking ring at the Olympus Ring yard ahead of schedule. Arjun Mehta coordinates with the guild from Halcyon's yard.
